New Moon Intention-Setting Spell: Weave Your First Lunar Anchor

Why the New Moon Is the Perfect Spell-Writing Window

  • Explain the new moon’s energetic blank slate: it’s the ideal moment to plant seeds of intention before the waxing light builds momentum.
  • Highlight how lunar cycles amplify spellwork—working with, not against, the natural rhythm of the sky.
  • Share the concept of “lunar anchors”: small, repeatable rituals that tether your intention to the moon’s monthly cycle.

What You’ll Need: Tools & Correspondences

  • List physical items: a white or silver candle, a small piece of paper, a pen with black ink, a fire-safe bowl, and optional selenite or clear quartz.
  • Describe the correspondences: white/silver for new beginnings, black ink for absorption, selenite for clarity and lunar connection.
  • Emphasise that intention outweighs perfection—a simple setup works just as powerfully as an elaborate altar.

Cleansing & Grounding Before You Begin

  • Walk through a quick smoke or sound cleanse (sage, palo santo, or a singing bowl) to clear stagnant energy from your space and tools.
  • Guide the reader through a 60-second grounding breath: inhale for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6—visualising roots into the earth.
  • Offer a short invocation to the new moon: “Dark Mother, blank slate of the sky, I step into this circle with an open heart.”

Writing Your Intention: The Heart of the Spell

  • Instruct the reader to write their intention in the present tense, as if it is already true (e.g., “I am aligned with my purpose,” not “I want to find purpose”).
  • Advise keeping it to one clear sentence—no more than 10–12 words—to avoid scattering the energy.
  • Suggest reading the intention aloud three times, letting the voice give it weight and vibration.

Charging & Sealing the Spell

  • Fold the paper toward you three times (bringing the intention inward) and hold it between your palms as you visualise a soft silver light filling the paper.
  • Light the candle and pass the folded paper through the flame’s edge (safely) while saying: “By the light of the dark moon, this seed is sown. So be it.”
  • Place the paper under your pillow or in a small pouch on your altar to “incubate” until the next moon phase.

Closing the Circle & Releasing to the Moon

  • Thank the moon and any guides
